Fishing holidays Loch Lomond

Our waterfront resort is located right on the banks of Loch Lomond! Furthermore, Loch Lomond has an enviable reputation as a coarse fishing site. It’s important to note, permits are required and can be purchased locally. Or you can contact LLAIA for further information.

Loch Lomond fish

Interestingly, back 1947, T. Morgan caught the Scottish record pike which weighed an incredible 47 lbs 11 oz (21.63 kg)! And around the Balmaha area, smaller fish such as perch, roach, ruffe and dace can be caught. If you are fishing for pike, pike anglers throughout Britain, rate Loch Lomond Pike as the hardest fighting of all! Additionally, the loch is also one of the few homes in Scotland to the elusive powan. This fish is a variety of the fresh-water houting – a “whitefish” with an adipose fin. And, it can grow to around 18″ (46cm) and weigh up to 2lbs (907g). However, the powan is a protected species and if caught should be quickly returned.

Testimonials

  • Outstanding location

'The location is outstanding - right on the edge of Loch Lomond with private water frontage and beaches. As a location for exploring, again this rates very highly. We easily accessed central Glasgow by train from nearby Balloch and also explored Stirling (particularly the castle and Wallace memorial), the Falkirk Wheel and even Perth and Pitlochry by car. It is a very peaceful place, which can only be disturbed on occasion by your neighbours but with the Slumber Charter in place, we had absolutely no problems overnight.'
