The course and facilities

Muirfield Golf Club opened in 1891. Built for The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, which was established almost 150 years earlier and is the world’s oldest verifiable organised golf club. The private club has a stunning 18-hole links course, designed by the renowned Scottish golfer, Old Tom Morris. Set out in two rings of 9 holes, one going clockwise and the other anti-clockwise, this is an unusual layout and was the first of its kind! As multi-time host of The Open Championship and ranked amongst the best courses in the world, Muirfield is on many a golfer’s bucket list.

The Clubhouse sits behind the 18th green and houses the spectacular dining room, the smoking room and locker rooms. Treasures from the club’s long history are on display. Here, you can relax, enjoy refreshments and browse the range of merchandise for sale. There is also outdoor seating with wonderful views of the course.

Booking a tee time

Please check visitor booking for the latest booking information. Tee times are extremely limited in peak season, so do plan well ahead. Also please be aware, there are strict handicap requirements and you will need to bring your certificate on the day. You can view the visitor notes (including dress code) here.

Testimonials

  • Such a beautiful setting

'Myself and my partner recently stayed in Drummond Lodge (from 21-24 Feb) and we just wanted to say thank you so much for a lovely stay. We loved our lodge, it was like a home from home, and we really didn’t want to leave! It was spotlessly clean and in such a beautiful setting. All the staff we met were really friendly. We also loved Balmaha, what a wonderful village. So thank you very much! We are the couple that took Flynn for a walk and we took this photo of him... we thought you’d appreciate a copy. Thanks once again...
  • A perfect place to relax

'Stayed at the Waterfront Lodges for a Fri to Mon short break for our daughters birthday last weekend. Lodge was placed right on the edge of Loch Lomond with stunning views.'
  • Our own private beach

'Just walking along the West Highland way path past some of the crowded beaches made us realise the value of having your own private waterfront onto the loch.  I can still picture walking down to the lochside on our first evening and watching an osprey dive for a fish!'
  • Outstanding

'Chef in a lodge was outstanding. The food was excellent as was the service. Superb evening.'
  • A magical getaway

'It is not at all a surprise that you are fully booked.  If there is one place in the world we would like to be this summer, that place is Loch Lomond Waterfront Lodges, and I’m sure the only people who don’t share this passion are those, who simply have never been there. What a magical getaway and a retreat you have created! Thank you for that.'
