Things to do in Gargunnock
35 minutes’ drive from us at Loch Lomond Waterfront lies the village of Gargunnock, on the edge of Stirling city. It is a good stopping point on the way to Stirling. With a local pub and restaurant and some great walks to enjoy.
Village pub and architecture
The Gargunnock Inn is the local pub, in the centre of the village. A family-run business that offers hearty food and a fine selection of ales, wines and whiskies. The historic building dates from the 17th century, and it is now the only remaining pub in the village.
The village has a war memorial. Erected in 1919 to honour those who lost their lives in World War One. With additional names added after World War Two. It also has a 17th century parish church with later added stained glass windows.
Local walks and attractions
Gargunnock sits at the foot of the Gargunnock Hills, a range of hills made up of volcanic rock, with a craggy escarpment that overlooks the glen of the River Forth.
With access from near the Gargunnock Inn, you can take a walk to Dounie’s Loup, a waterfall which cascades down the cliff edge below the hills. There is also a small cave to explore here.
Gargunnock Gardens are open from March to September, and also on certain dates during the Snowdrop Festival each winter/spring. This is an established house garden and walled garden with lovely woodland walks, and has something different to offer each season.
